you can try to lighten it up with white… too much water will make it soft…

hello Maryam.. thank you very much. Maybe you added darker colors on it. You need to add more white to make it lighter. You can still retouch the background. No worries, you can cover the paints with other layer of paints.. make sure to let it dry first.
