This painting technique and tutorial is a comparison between two most commonly used brushes which are the bristle flat brush versus bristle fan brush in painting tree leaves using acrylic. I mostly used bristle flat brushes than fan brushes but I cannot deny the good result when using the fan brush. The good thing about the flat brush is that it’s multiple purpose. You can create bigger leaves and also trees with smaller leaves. Unlike the fan brush, it’s just limited to painting the small and soft kind of leaves, which is also really good. So in my conclusion, flat brush is better in terms of multiple purpose but fan brush can create prettier tree leaves. So it’s all up to you which you used comfortably with. Just practice using each one and do better than I have here. Please don’t forget to hit like, add some comments and subscribe for more videos. You can also share it to anyone.

Ahmed Boudjani says:
John ,you don’t have to explain again at the end, I learned a lot from you by just watching you paint; for the brushes, I think it depends on the kind of tree you want to paint. The flat bristle brush is more for trees like an oak tree or mapple tree, and the fan brush is more for tropical trees like palm trees or also pine trees…thank you again for your generosity and endless efforts.
Peggy Sterling says:
Actually I’m glad for Ahmed’s idea for Oak vs Palm trees, but I do love the complete explanation from you John, so thank you bothš
